Select Industry by SIC/NAICS Code

Overview

You will be prompted to select an Industry based on an SIC or NAICS Code. These are numerical codes developed to help easily identify the primary business activities of an establishment. They were created to make a more streamlined process for categorizing businesses. FINTEL organizes industry data based on the North American Industry Classification System (NAICS), and is the standard used by government agencies in classifying business entities for the purpose of collecting, analyzing, and publishing statistical data related to the business economy within North America.

NAICS- North American Industry Classification System

NAICS is the more prominent, preferred way to code an industry today. It is replacing the SIC.

SIC- Standard Industry Classification

 

SIC an older classification system designed by the U.S. government and is now becoming obsolete.
